In Texas, pickleball is fast becoming a very popular sport, especially among seniors. Some of the best pickleball courts are in Tarrant County.

Pickleball, a game that is  a mix of tennis, table tennis, and badminton, is seeing rising popularity in Tarrant County. Because of this, there are many dedicated and shared pickleball courts in all major cities of the county.

The best pickleball courts in Tarrant County are in Tarrant County College, The Link Event & Recreation Center, Game On Sports Complex, Bear Creek Park, Arlington Tennis Center, Wagon Wheel Tennis Center, Colleyville City Park, Mansfield Activities Center, Vaquero Club, and CERA.

As a pickleball fan myself, I have toured these facilities to see what kind of courts they offer as well as interviewed many other pickleball fans in my circle on the courts that they like.

Top 10 Pickleball Courts in Tarrant County

As an increasing number of people start to show their interest in pickleball, more and more courts for the exclusive use of pickleball players have cropped up. Let us take a look at some of the best venues in Tarrant County that offer amazing pickleball courts.

Tarrant County College

Tarrant County College’s Northeast Campus is located in Hurst, the northeast corner of Tarrant County. The campus offers recreation areas that can be accessed by currently enrolled students as well as Tarrant County College employees and the community.

The campus’s NHPE indoor facilities include the fitness center, women’s locker room, restrooms, and checkout office. The outdoor recreational areas, on the other hand, include four pickleball courts as well as six tennis courts, one sand volleyball court, one mile jogging loop, a basketball court, and a hammock park.

The four pickleball courts in the facility are lighted courts; the lights can be turned on outside of the tennis courts on the northeast side. The timer is a maximum of two hours. A single court can be used by four people, two on each side. The campus forbids any other non-pickleball or non-tennis activities in the court.

The college also offers pickleball classes to students, faculty, and the community, typically on the courts on Monday through Thursday during mid-morning hours. The NHPE building is closed on the weekends.

TCC students, staff, clubs, and departments are not required to make reservations but it is encouraged to do so in order to get first priority to the courts. The players also need to prepare their own equipment when in court.

TCC students and staff can use the pickleball courts for free by showing their IDs. However, the facility is also open for community members who can enjoy a gym membership (which includes the use of pickleball courts) for $75 for each semester.

The Link Event & Recreation Center

The Link Events & Recreation Center is a multipurpose community facility located in the City of Richmond Hills. The facility is open to people of all ages and offers a wide variety of amenities and programs, including netball courts, indoor walking track, weight and fitness room, a gym, an arts and crafts area, a game area, and public meeting spaces.

The facility is public and offers three lined pickleball courts. These are indoor courts and are open in all seasons. The court type is hard and has rubberized floors. All the courts have lighting. The facility also consists of a bathroom area, which is very convenient for players. However, there may be a shortage of equipment in the facility since players are asked to bring their own pickleball (which is not a great hardship).

Although  the recreation center consists of state-of-the-art facilities and is located in a nice neighborhood, it charges a very low fee for its use. You only have to pay $5 as a drop in fee. If you want to become a member of the club, you should ask the help desk for more information.

The Link Event & Recreation Center also accepts Silver Sneakers or Renew Active.

Game On Sports Complex

Game On Sports Complex is the biggest multi-purpose sports center in North Texas. The facility encompasses 190,000 sq ft of playing, competition, and training space between the Game On Arena Sports and Game on Sports Complex. The sports center offers state-of-the-art facilities for athletes and players, along with a top-of-the-line individual performance training center.

Game On also offers a home for pickleball, volleyball, baseball, basketball, softball and indoor soccer for leagues and teams of all ages.

Game On open play times for pickleball are Monday to Friday from 8 am to 3 pm. The sports center has six pickleball courts that are open to the public and which have more room to expand as the popularity of the game grows. The facility also adjusts the skill level for the courts, depending on the players’ requirements.

The center has a pickleball membership for $80 per year. Senior members are charged a reduced amount of $65 per year.

If you want a monthly rather than an annual membership, it will cost you $25 per month. The drop in fee is $5 for a single day pass.

Game On also hosts pickleball tournaments so if you are interested, you can participate in them or join in the fun as a spectator.

Arlington Tennis Center

Arlington Tennis Center is a state-of-the-art award-winning sports facility that has received numerous accolades and recognition at both the state and national level. Situated in the city of Arlington, the center opened its doors in 1995 and is owned and operated by the city.

The facility consists of 26 lighted outdoor courts, eight of which are exclusive for pickleball use. Out of these 26 courts, six courts are reserved for children 10 years old or under. The facility also offers locker rooms with showers, a concession area, and a full-service pro shop.

The Arlington Tennis Center employs certified professionals as its teaching staff and hires additional staff during peak seasons. The facility offers pickleball classes, leagues, and drills for players of all ages and skill levels and its recreational leagues are available for both men and women at multiple times.

Interested players can rent out the court for $2 per person per hour and rent pickleball paddles for $5 per hour.

The facility also has a proshop which allows you to buy the latest tennis or pickleball equipment for gifts. The ATC also offers ball machines and demo rackets which you can use on site as well as prompt stringing service by qualified professionals.

The  center also hosts events throughout the year, including several sanctioned tournaments.

Wagon Wheel Tennis Center

Wagon Wheel Tennis Center is a private facility for tennis players located in Coppell, Texas. The facility comprises four permanent pickleball courts for members.

The facility offers open play for players of all skill levels, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 11:30 am. The facility is also available for intermediate and advanced players from 9 am to 12 pm.

Even though it offers world-class facilities, the cost of using its pickleball court is very low. Residents pay $3 for the use of the facility, while non-residents pay $3.5.

The format of play is non-fixed partners and all players need to follow the rules of the WWTPC for Open Play.

Wagon Wheel Tennis Center also offers lessons for beginner players on Mondays at 6:30 pm and Wednesday at 9 am. Private and semi-private lessons can also be scheduled. Instructors are willing to make the effort to work out a day and time for lessons that suits everyone’s busy schedule as well as the availability of the pickleball court

Courts can be rented out for 1.5 to 2 hour blocks at a time and players can rent out two courts at a time. Since the center regularly sees activities and programs on the court, it is a good idea to call ahead of time and ask about the court availability.

The tennis court also hosts special pickleball events throughout the year. If you want to reserve a court for more than two hours or need more than two courts, then it will qualify as a special event for larger groups, which can be accommodated as well.

Bear Creek Park

Bear Creek Park is located in Keller, Texas, and offers public outdoor pickleball courts for people of all ages. The facility consists of four lighted outdoor pickleball courts and is ready to set up four more new courts in the park, due to the rising demands of the players.

However, since these are public courts and are outdoor, they are often very busy during peak time so you will need to wait hours before you can get your turn. Despite this, a lot of pickleball players prefer to come to Bear Creek Park since the park offers other socializing opportunities like cookouts and other events.

Since the courts are public, they do not offer pickleball lessons to beginners. The Open Play is established for intermediate to advanced level players (intermediate is 2.5 to 3.5 level, while advanced are 4.0 levels and above) and happens on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 pm to 11 pm; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9 am to 12 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 12 pm. People are free to make a foursome and use the courts on the days when the Open Play is not going on.

The courts are open from 7 am to 11 pm every day. However, the best part is that the courts are completely free for everyone.

Colleyville City Park

The Colleyville City Park is one of the very best places to play pickleball in Tarrant County. The 40-acre community park offers four lighted pickleball courts as well as six lighted tennis courts, nine lighted baseball and softball fields, basketball courts, Kidsville playground, restrooms, amphitheater, covered pavilion, pond, and a one-mile multi-use trail.

If you want to reserve a pickleball court, you can do so by visiting the Reservation page at City of Colleyville, Texas. The pickleball tennis courts are open for public use between 6 am and 10 pm. Every player will be charged $3 for 1.5 hours of play.

The Colleyville City Park also offers introductory lessons for new pickleball players that focus on getting the basic understanding and skills of the game. The class is offered at varying times and you can see the schedule at the Colleyville City website. The fee is $85 for the lessons.

The facility also offers beginner pickleball classes that are designed for different gameplay tactics like drops and dinks. The fee for this class is $85.

The Colleyville City Park also offers classes designed for intermediate or advanced level players who take part in tournaments or have high levels in tennis. The fee is $85 for lessons.

All classes are offered by Matt Benton, a Colleyville resident.

Private lessons with Benton cost $60 per hour. For group drills, two players are required to pay $41 per player per hour; three players are required to pay $36 per player per hour; and four to eight players are required to pay $30 per player per hour.

Mansfield Activities Center

Mansfield Activities Center was opened in 2001 as Mansfield's very first recreation center. The facility is spread over a 23,431 square foot area which includes courts, a full-size gymnasium, and four large spaces for classrooms.

The activities center consists of four rubberized indoor pickleball courts and provides players with nets and jug pickle balls. The court allows a maximum number of 32 players per session.

Beginner players can have pickleball sessions on Monday from 1 pm to 3 pm and on Friday from 10 am to 12 am. Intermediate and advanced pickleball players can have sessions on Monday from 3 pm to 5 pm; Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm; and Friday from 12 pm to 2 pm.

The facility has two special days and players can use the courts on those days by paying a $5 fee with reservation. The timings are between 6 pm and 9 pm on Wednesdays with a maximum of 20 players, and 12 pm to 3 pm on Sunday.

To become a member of the Mansfield Activities Center, a $10 membership fee is required of residents and $17 membership fee is required for non-residents. Residents can also pay $3 for a day pass, while non-residents are charged $6 for a day pass.

Vaquero Club

Located in Westlake, Texas, the Vaquero Club is set on 525 acres of beautiful ranch land. The club is a luxury golfing destination and an exclusive neighborhood with a premier golf course. However, golfing is not all that it offers.

As a member of the Vaquero Club, you get access to a number of amenities including pickleball, tennis, a fully-equipped gym, swimming, group activities, and a stocked fishing pond. The clubhouse also accommodates children with a kids club that allows parents to leave their kids in safe hands when they want to have a date night.

For pickleball lovers, however, the pristine Tennis and Pickleball Garden takes center stage. The garden consists of four championship courts that are designed for casual players as well as athletes. The program also offers personal instructions, training sessions and drills for people of any age and skill level.

The tennis and pickleball program also includes creating social events and scheduling drills that allow players to gel with each other and have fun, while challenging themselves. The club offers instructions to players as young as five years old and also hosts summer camp for children of all skill levels.

Corporate Employees Recreation Association

The Corporate Employees recreation Association was established in 1949 as a recreational facility that offers wholesome health, fitness, and leisure activities for employees, retirees, and their family.

The recreation center is located in Fort Worth, Texas and offers a total of sox courts for playing pickleball. These are lined indoor courts and are available for use all year round, which is very convenient for players who want to practice in all seasons.

Out of the six indoor pickleball courts, three are dedicated for intermediate players, while the other three are dedicated for advanced players. The courts offer good spacing and competition and are available for use from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 1 pm.

If you are a player who is looking for advanced lessons in pickleball, then the CERA offers them on Thursday from 10 am to 11:30 am.

First time use of the courts is free. Fees also vary and for seniors it is $40 per year and $25 for six months. After 10 am, the center sees a lot of pickleball players, typically around 40 to 60 players. As such, you may have to wait a while for your turn.
